Let It Shine by Ashley Bryan2008 Coretta Scott King Award (Illustration)
Ashley Bryan has selected three songs to celebrate African American spirituals. The songs included are “This Light of Mine”, “Oh When the Saints Go March In”, and “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands.” Bryan uses collages to accompany the lines fo the text which is at the bottom of the pages. The illustrations in this book are dynamic and the story line is inspirational.
This book is pure inspiration. It is nice to read something that did not involve negativity in any way. This is a book to read to all age groups of students and even your own family.
