Wataru is a young boy who is facing many different types of struggles. Watanu deals with his dad leaving and his mother’s suicide attempt. He then goes into this fantasy world where he combats magical statues and demons. He visits a goddess who is able to grant him one wish. At the end
Wataru is able to get his mom back.
This book transforms from real world to a fantasy world. Eventhough this is a lengthy story, I do feel most teens will enjoy reading this dark yet inspiring novel.
